Mon 5/12 – ALLAGASH WILDERNESS WATERWAY
Covering more than a million acres, Maine's Allagash Wilderness Waterway is the largest undeveloped watershed east of the Rockies. It's home to precious wildlife and is popular for outdoor recreation. A new guidebook presents the ecology and history of the waterway, and what changes are in store for this ecosystem in the face of climate change and other threats.
Tue 5/13 – HEAD START
As Head Start marks its 60th anniversary, we examine how this federal program provides education to young children from low-income backgrounds in Maine—as well as support services to their families. What is Head Start's reach in Maine, and what is the lasting value of early childhood education? We'll also find out how federal actions are affecting staffing and funding for Maine's Head Start centers.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo discusses his new book, Life and Art, a collection of 12 new essays about the intersection between his own life and the stories he chooses to tell. Russo examines his reasons for writing about others, through essays about his own relatives and about his past novels.
Thu 5/15 –AMERICA’S SHARED VALUES
A recent report by the Nationhood Lab found that despite a divisive climate, Americans share certain ideals, rooted in the Declaration of Independence. We’ll learn about these shared beliefs—and whether it’s possible to harness them to heal national strife. (Original broadcast date April 23, 2025)
Fri 5/16 – KATIE ZARRILLI: MAINE COUNTIES
Each of Maine's 16 counties has its own distinctive character or vibe. In the past year, Instagram personality Katie Zarrilli has gained a following for her lighthearted portrayals of each county, as they hang out and discuss topics such as Maine's birthday and the best part of spring. Katie joins us for the hour as we discuss what makes each county unique. We'll ask our audience about what they like best about their county, and what they think the rest of Maine gets wrong about them.
